Gallery 1261 is pleased to present Tight Rope, an exhibition of new paintings by Danny McCaw, on view through the gallery's online exhibition space. Made while under quarantine in his Los Angeles studio in the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2020, these works respond to the artist and his practice dealing with the fear, anxiety, risk, and excitement. Tight Rope navigates our emotional and psychological landscape and is a metaphor for dealing with all our fears, insecurities, and excitement that lies within. Risk plays a big roll in tight Rope, for that's where everything can be lost with one bad move, but it's in this risk that brings the excitement. The artist is constantly dealing with these fears of failure. The artist is walking a thin line of risk and reward with one bad move that could ruin the painting and one good move to complete the work. Tight Rope is a balancing act that leaves the artist wanting to push to go higher and higher, but there is always the danger of failing with that push.
