Gallery 1261 is delighted to showcase "The Enchanted Eye," a mesmerizing solo exhibition by the acclaimed artist Adrienne Stein. This collection of 25 new paintings invites you to embark on a journey through vibrant gardens and the profound beauty of nature.

Adrienne Stein masterfully captures the magic and transcendence of the natural world with meticulous detail and an explosion of color. Her works reflect her deep connection to gardens, which she views as sanctuaries of healing, contemplation, and spiritual beauty. Many pieces in this collection draw inspiration from the serene Denver Botanic Gardens and the picturesque Ladew Topiary Gardens in Maryland, where she and her husband, Quang Ho, served as the 2023 Artists in Residence.

The overarching theme of "The Enchanted Eye" is joy and exuberance. Each painting is a testament to the beauty found in life’s precious moments, inspired by nature’s splendor.

Artist Statement

"These 25 new paintings in 'The Enchanted Eye' were inspired by experiences of beauty that I’ve had in gardens where I’ve spent a lot of time recently. I want to immerse the viewer in the magic and transcendence of the natural world by observing it with great attention, love, detail, and vibrant color. To me, a garden is an open-air sanctuary; a place of healing beauty, prayer, and contemplation. The Denver Botanic Gardens has been a special and inspiring place for me over the years. Many of the paintings depict scenes from there. Also last year, my husband, the artist Quang Ho, and I were the 2023 Artists in Residence at Ladew Topiary Gardens in Maryland, so many of these paintings were inspired by our time there too.

The overall feeling of these works is one of joy and exuberance, inspired by the happiness of becoming a wife and mother in recent years." - Adrienne Stein

Learn More about Adrienne Stein

Adrienne Stein (b. 1986) is an award winning artist living and working in Pennsylvania. She holds an MFA from Boston University and a BFA Magna Cum Laude, from Laguna College of Art & Design. Adrienne studied under many gifted and influential instructors throughout the United States, France, and Italy. Her work reanimates historical painting genres forming a bridge to the present with fresh insight and imagery. The worlds she paints are inhabited by figures, folklore, archetypes, and natural elements that are fueled by a sense of personal as well as universal myth. Close friends and family members are reinterpreted in lush and magical environments that form the nexus between reality and fantasy, expressed through an unconscious world of symbolic imagery. She has received numerous awards from organizations such as The Portrait Society of America, The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, and The Art Renewal Center. Her work is collected in the U.S. and abroad.
