Gallery 1261 is proud to present The Seasons, a solo exhibition of beautiful plein air works that explore nature by German artist Ulrich Gleiter. His masterful impasto technique is fully fleshed out in this series and used as a tool to describe the lush and beautiful landscapes on view.
In this 40+ piece body of work, Gleiter paints scenes from every season in a variety of locations throughout Eurasia, highlighting nature’s wondrous beauty. Gleiter describes the pieces as “travel impressions created in various corners of the world. In the exhibit are canvases from places as diverse as Croatia, Italy, the Republic of Georgia and the many different areas in Russia, the Urals, Siberia, the polar regions, and the mountains of the Caucasus.” Influenced by Russian impressionists and trained at the Repin Academy in Saint Petersburg, Gleiter employs the techniques of the masters; the brush-strokes work harmoniously to create his fully realized paintings. We see this skill in works like “At Sunrise in the Mountains”, “Heavy Snow In Karelia”, and “Summer Evening on the Black Sea”. Each work depicts a different scene in a detailed and carefully crafted manner. While the landscapes on view in this exhibition represent the bulk of the exhibition, there will also be still life and portrait works on view.
