Jim Morgan

Raised in a small town in Central Utah, Jim Morgan grew up with a keen interest in the outdoors, wild animals and birds. A graduate of Utah State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, his paintings today emphasize the importance of natural landscapes. He most often paints on location, working with the play of light, shadow and subtle color changes, thus achieving a harmonious balance between the subject and its environment. His work has been featured at prestigious venues including: the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum in Los Angeles. Jim was the recipient of the Robert Lougheed Memorial Award at the 1994 National Academy of Western Art and the 1996 Red Smith Artists’ Choice Award from the National Museum of Wildlife Art.
